Are you ready to mark on your calendar the main events in Trentino during the following days?
We start with the Christmas markets, since the main ones of our region are kicking off during this weekend, already bringing the festive atmosphere one month in advance.
The Christmas market tradition goes back to a time when for important purchases, one had to wait for the fairs scheduled at annual occasions such as the Advent period: the first one were organized in Germany and Alsace during the 1400s.
Now such markets have become a commercial and touristic phenomenon that draw millions of people wandering among the stalls on the hunt for peculiar gifts while enjoying traditional delicacies surrounded by scents of tea and vin brulè.
In Trentino those in Pergine, Arco and Rango have already been opened to the public.
Saturday evening the market of Trento will be inaugurated. At 7 PM the Christmas tree in Duomo square will also be officially lit.
Many additional initiatives, the main one being the Ferris wheel which will be installed in Dante square on the 7th of December.
Levico’s market will also be inaugurated, after a period of intense repairing of the Habsburg park, which was damaged by bad weather.
In Rovereto, alongside with the market which will open its doors on Friday night, the traditional S.Caterina fair will also take place on Sunday.
This weekend will also offer food for thought, since the 25th of November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Among the many scheduled appointments, we recommend the WIrun, a 5km non competitive footrace starting and ending at the Albere park: it will kick off at 10 am on Sunday.
The raised funds will provide support to associations which aim to give a second chance to female victims of domestic violence.
